When an AI answer does not appear

Most of the time an AI answer appears within seconds. When it does not, the box or the chat says why, and the regular search results are never affected. This page lists the messages you may see and what to do.
#The AI Overview box

A failed message usually does not use up one of your 10; the counter shows where you stand.
#Asked to confirm you are human
Now and then 4Search asks a visitor to confirm they are human before AI answers and web results work: press and hold the button for about three seconds (or hold Space or Enter on it). After that, AI answers work as usual.
#Still not working?
- Check that AI-assisted answers is on in Menu › Your Privacy Choices.
- A private window, blocked cookies or a content blocker can stop your choice from being remembered or block the answer. Try a normal window.

#Common questions
Does a failed AI answer mean my search failed too?
No. The results load separately and are not affected.
Why do I get a different message from the ones listed here?
A few rarer messages say AI answers are unavailable for the moment on this site. They are not something you can fix in your browser; try again later.
